‘Wee is one of the seven things I need before recording’ – Ras Kuuku

Contrary to the popular notion that marijuana helps musicians write songs and performs better during a stage performance, dancehall act, Shatta Wale in an interview condemned the act stating that he has stopped taking the addictive drug to prove that he can still do better without it.

Ghanaian rapper, Yaa Pono who once proclaimed that he smokes wee before hitting the studios to record songs made a controversial statement at the Pent Hall week celebration artiste night when he asked the students smoke marijuana if they have difficulty in learning at school as it will aid them as their parents are spending soo much on them.

However, there are others who believe that the use of marijuana, otherwise known as ‘ganja’ helps them to be more creative when it comes to recording music and notable among them is Ras Kuuku.

Reggae-dancehall musician, Ras Kuuku who has for long called the legalisation of wee has stated in an interview that one of his inspirations to writing good music is by smoking marijuana and it’s something he can’t do without.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM with Merqury Quaye, the ‘Wo’ hitmaker revealed that marijuana motivates him to be in the realm to make music.

“Without weed, I can’t do music, it’s one of the seven things I need before recording. All the good songs and romantic lyrics were fueled by marijuana. Aside from that, I love drinking water, eating healthy and take more fruits,” he said.

Ras Kukuu is currently promoting his new album dubbed ‘Kuntunkununku which features Samini, Stonebwoy, MzVee and other major artists.
