18-year-old boy stabs friend to death over missing phone

A Nigerian teenager Abdulkarim Adamu has been nabbed for allegedly stabbing his 21-year-old friend, known as Ayuba Hassan, to death during a fight over a mobile phone.

As sighted on Instablog9ja, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Suleima Nguroje, in a statement on Saturday, April 17, disclosed the unfortunate incident that occurred on Tuesday, April 14, in Mubi North LGA of the state.

According to the suspect, who allegedly confessed to the crime, he, the deceased, and two of their friends had gone to bed after a failed attempt by them to steal jerrycans containing fuel at a particular filling station in the town.

However, he woke up in the night but realized his mobile phone worth N55,000 was missing. His two friends told him only Ayuba visited the house while he was asleep. But when he confronted Ayuba the next day, he denied taking the phone.

A heated argument ensued and the duo, accompanied by their two friends, agreed to go to the riverside and fight. Abdulkarim claimed that on their way to the riverside, Ayuba threw a stone at him, prompting him to pull out a knife and stab him twice in the hand and chest.
