The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, since its inception in 2000 has grown to become the biggest event on the Ghanaian Entertainment Calendar, designed among other things, to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of the various players in Ghana’s music industry.
This year’s edition promises to be fun and full of surprises. One category that grabs much attention is the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category. It’s the topmost award and every artiste will like to etch his/her name in the history books by winning it.
I have compiled three artistes that I think have greater chances of winning it ahead of their competitors even before the organizers release their nominees in the various categories.
Remember, this article strictly my opinion!
No female artiste has ever won this award before. However history beckons Ebony to break the jinx. The songstress has been in a ‘sensational form’ last year with several hits to her credit.
She has headlined major concert through the country and thus is truly deserves this award.
The pride of North has caused raptures everywhere with his style of music. His ability to pull crowds to his concert is just unbelievable and that makes him a very strong candidate for the award.
When Fancy Gadam won the ‘New Artiste of The Year’ at the last edition of the award ceremony at the expense of Medikal, some Ghanaian were upset. But as it stands now, he has exceeded all expectations.
I can’t say for sure if Shatta Wale is going to be part of this year’s award considering the protracted feud that exist between both parties, albeit he has expressed his willingness to go for the forms.
If the organizers reconcile with him and add him to the scheme, then the aforementioned artistes should forget about winning anything!
