The CEO of 3Music Awards, Sadiq Abdulai Abu, has revealed that the performance of Black Sherif in the artificial rain was meant for Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie as he was the artiste billed for the first performance at the awards night.

On Saturday, March 26, 2022, Black Sherif and his team plus the organizers of the 3Music Awards managed to come up with a creative way of making his performance at the award show a memorable one.

The artiste stood topless in what looked like ‘artificial rain’ as water from above poured on him on stage while he performed his eccentric First and Second Sermon songs to the delight of the patrons who besieged the Grand Arena in Accra.

Netizens after the performance took to social media to applaud the organizers for coming up with such an idea that the industry has never witnessed.

According to the owner of 3 Media Network, his team was pushing for Sarkodie to start the show and would have performed in the artificial rain but didn’t happen because of some “unfinished business” they had with Sarkodie’s management, the plans didn’t work out.

“I mean rather interestingly, when we built the idea {for the first performance} initially, it was meant for Sarkodie. Sarkodie was supposed to do an opening performance with two songs: one with MOG and Happy Day with Kuami Eugene.”

According to Sadiq, Sarkodie’s team wasn’t sure if he will be in the country at the awards night and because they were not certain about settling the unfinished business with Sarkodie and his team, they knew they had to look elsewhere.

“In fact, for Angel, he wanted us to complete the unfinished business that we had before he would be confident to pick up such conversations with Sarkodie. And so once, what we wanted to do was not realistically available at the time and it was going to be finished up later, we realized that at that point we needed to move on.”

It was at this point that one of the handlers of Black Sherif made a strong case for him that, based on his works during the past year, he deserved to open the main event of the awards show.

“So, when they couldn’t, Sherif was already on our bill but Blacko was supposed to be the leader of the new school performance. But Aubrey, who works with him {Blacko} told me looking at how hard the boy had worked this year, we should give him the opening performance.

“And I remember telling Aubrey and co that the opening performance idea we have built is something we were working with Sarkodie on it. But she said to me that look, if it doesn’t work -out they want the spot.
