One of the highlights of CAN 2008 which was hosted by Ghana was when an unfamiliar girl was ushered to the stadium during the grand finale between Egypt and Cameroon while hoisting the glittering trophy.

Her name is Mimi Boateng and she was just 8-years old when four bulky men who are known in the Ghanaian parlance as machomen carried her in a palanquin while holding the giant trophy with her small, feeble hands.

Today, she’s all grown and looking ravishing, fourteen years after the tournament. Apparently, seasoned journalist Saddick Adams, known professionally as Sports Obama ‘fished her out’ and succeeded in sending social media into a partial meltdown.

Obama shared the photos on his social media page writing;

“We finally found this pretty queen. 8-year-old Mimi held the Afcon trophy sitting in a palanquin during CAN 2008 opening ceremony in Ghana. One of the most widely circulated Afcon images. Here she is fully grown 😊”

This online portal, www.Ghbase.com did further checks on her and it emerged that she is presently studying at the University College London for a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
