89,000ghc blown on each E-levy townhall meeting – Stranek Africa

The Strategic Thinkers Network Africa (Stranek-Africa) is urging the government to slow down its E-Levy townhall events, which are costing the public approximately GHS89,000 each event.

The Ministry of Finance and Information has recently organized three townhall meetings in Kumasi, Tamale, and Koforidua to educate Ghanaians on why the tax is important.

Stranek-Africa, which attended the sessions, said the government is overspending.

The E-Levy funds might be saved and utilized for other purposes, the Network claims. A town hall meeting is expected to cost GH 89,400 based on our analysis.

“Little drops of water become an ocean,” reads part of a Stranek Africa press statement signed by Executive Director Nii Tettey Tetteh.

Stranek-Africa advises the government to stop holding town hall meetings and find alternative ways to resolve the E-levy concerns of Ghanaians.

It advises the government to utilize the media and information centres around the nation, as well as assembly members talking to people in their district, municipality, or electoral region.
