Dr Adutwum’s sterling performance as Deputy Education Minister in charge of pre-tertiary education in Nana Addo’s first term did not go unnoticed; it is not so surprising to many that he has been nominated by the president as the Education Minister-designate.
The list of nominees for various ministries was released by the government today.
One person who is gushing over Dr Adutwum’s appointment is sports fanatic and host of the floodlight sports show on Angel FM in Accra, Saddick Adams, popularly called the Sports Obama.
Having been an educationist for quite a long time, Dr Adutwum, as Deputy education minister exhibited tact in dealing with educational matters in the country to the admiration of many people.
He went international during the COVID-19-imposed lockdown when he appeared on TV to teach Ghanaian students who were at home because schools got closed to prevent the spread of the virus.
To Sports Obama, Dr Adutwum possesses three solid qualities; qualities that make a man unstoppable.
Knowledge, practical experience and common sense are those qualities.
He believes that the man possesses these qualities and that makes him exceptional and unstoppable.
Dr Adutwum could be described as not just an ordinary politician as he has demonstrated that he has the welfare of people at heart, especially their educational development.
He very recently sponsored student to the UMaT to study engineering-related courses as part of his vision to produce a number of qualified engineers in the Bosomtwi constituency where he is MP.
Sports Obama wrote on Facebook when the list of ministers for Nana Addo’s second term surfaced;
“Dr Yaw Adutwum. Education Minister-designate
Nothing can stop a person with book knowledge, practical experience and common sense.”
When confirmed after the vetting, he will replace his former boss, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh who has been moved to the Energy Ministry.
