A truly sad day for Ghana: John Mahama expresses sadness about Thursday’s tragic explosion at Apiate

Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has expressed grief following the tragic incident that tore apart the community of Apiate near Bogoso in the Western part of Ghana.

Hundreds of people at Bogoso in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality in the Western Region met their untimely death following a gas explosion that occurred today, Thursday, January 20, 2022.

Several victims of the gas explosion at Bogoso in the Western Region have been admitted at various hospitals and clinics within the Bogoso Municipality.

Reacting to the explosion that has claimed lives, John Mahama posted that he is praying for a speedy recovery for the injured and urging emergency service providers “to continue to work assiduously towards preventing further spread, alleviate the damage and suffering in the affected communities”.

His full post on Facebook read: “A truly sad day for Ghana!
My deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the unfortunate disaster at Appiatse, in the Bogoso District of the Western Region this afternoon.
Let’s pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, as we also urge the security and emergency services to continue to work assiduously to alleviate the damage and suffering in the affected communities.
To the chiefs and people in the affected areas, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the country stand with you, in this time of grief.”
