Reports reaching our desk indicates that Ghana Blackstars Coach, Kwesi Appiah is set to drop captain, Asamoah Gyan from the Ghana National Team squad for African Cup of Nations 2019.
According to the report, Kwasi Appiah made thus statement when some journalists visited the coach with a prophet at his private residence in Kumasi.
The prophet (name withheld) had gone to deliver a prophecy concerning the upcoming AFCON.
According to the prophet he had a vision that, “Asamoah Gyan and Andre “Dede” Ayew was returning from Egypt leading the national team with the African Cup that they had won for the country”.
The coach hearing this revelation told the Prophet that he’s already contemplated on dropping injured Asamoah Gyan because of fitness issues.
Gyan has struggled with injuries this term at Turkish side Kayserispor, making 15 appearances in all competitions and scoring 3 goals to his credit while Boateng has played just thrice since moving from Spanish side UD Levante to Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang.
Akwesi Appiah then asked the prophet to rather concentrate on Andre Ayew spiritually since he is very fit and likely to captain the team in Egypt 2019.
The Blackstars of Ghana will be seeking to win the elusive AFCON trophy for the first time in 37 years when they take on the best in the continent come Egypt 2019 slated for June-July.
The West Africa giants have come close to ending their drought at the last six tournaments, having reached the semi-finals, and even going as far as the final in 2010 and 2015.
The Blackstars squad is expected to be named by the head coach, James Akwesi Appiah on the 29th of May 2019.
