The organizers of the Ghanaian music and cultural festival, Afrochella have disclosed the end of the festival in Ghana.
“Afrochella is a celebration of Africa’s diverse culture and the vibrant work of African creatives & entrepreneurs. African art, cuisine, music, and food are popular culture”.
The Afrochella festival has been in Ghana for five years but organizers have disclosed the end of the festival.
The shocking announcement was made at the very end of the two-day festival, in the early hours of Friday morning.
“This is the last Afrochella,” said co-founder Abdul Abdullah to the gathered crowd who attended the musical concert at El Wak sports stadium.
A lot of patrons reacted to the sad news. “I couldn’t believe it when they said Afrochella is over,” said one woman.
“I’m shocked – this is what a lot of us in the diaspora look forward to at the end of the year,” said one African American man.
“There was something special about Afrochella that meant so much to African Americans like me – I think it’s gonna be hard to fill the void that they’ll leave,” said another.
