Madam Akua Donkor, flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFM), has outlined some juicy promises she would be implementing when the nod is given to her by Ghanaians to lead the country after the general elections in December.
The manifesto which was launched on Saturday, September 12, 2020, had a lot of promises that many describe as unfeasible, outrageous and wild. However, the leader of the FGM believes it is the manifesto to attend to the needs of the Ghanaian people.
Key amongst the promises are:
- Extension of maternity leave to one year
- Free port
- Free electricity
- Free Education
- Free cutlasses for farmers
- Free water
- Changing the Ghanaian Cedi to British pounds
As we speak, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress were the first political parties to outdoor their manifestos; theirs have gained all the traction and attention since they are the two biggest political parties in Ghana.
In other news, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the filing of nomination fees for the presidential and parliamentary elections at a whopping GHS1,000,000 and GHS10,000 respectively.
The fees announced by the EC have been met with severe opposition by stakeholders and interest groups who believe the democracy of Ghana is being sold to the rich and powerful who are not necessarily the right people.
