John Dramani Mahama, NDC’s flagbearer, has urged Akufo Addo to pay monies owed contractors who built the toilets his government has been commissioning most recently.
Mahama while on a campaign tour in the Eastern Region noted that these contractors are being chased by banks which borrowed them the monies.
“President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia, the contractors said they haven’t been paid after completing the [project you are commissioning], please pay them. This government has destroyed the work of contractors. Most of them are now at home jobless. 538 contractors-built toilets that you are commissioning, yet you are not paying them,” he said.
He added, “some borrowed money and used it to pre-finance the projects but they haven’t paid.”
