For the purpose of analogy, Kuami Eugene is second to none in terms of song sampling or otherwise known as lyrical theft. This is as a result of the numerous accusations leveled up against him in reference to sampling. Namely; Ice Prince, Adane Best, Malian musician called Sidiki Diabaté, et al.
But it looks like Kuami Eugene has handed the lyrical theft baton to RuffTown records’ Wendy Shay as the latter has been busted with song sampling. You remember Kuami Eugene was recently caught hanging out with Wendy so who knows if he nurtured her how to sample. Lol.
Well, Wendy Shay has released a new song titled “Masakra” to the admiration of Ghanaians especially her fans. But from nowhere, one hibernated Ghanaian artiste who bears the name Kay Wusu has come out to voice that he’s the original composer of Wendy’ new jam, however, his own was titled “Asore” but with same lyrical composition.
According to Kay Wusu in an interaction with the press following the brouhaha, Bullet who happens to be Wendy Shay’s manager contacted him after the song was recorded but didn’t finalise on any financial terms or whatsoever.
“They didn’t contact me when the song was being recorded but I was called after. Bullet called me not long ago to ask for my approval. We didn’t go deep but I gave the approval for the respect he has shown me,” he said.
“I cannot discuss any financial terms at the moment but I am hoping that Bullet would contact me for a discussion on that topic. I am okay with everything and I think it’s too early to draw a conclusion,” he added.
More importantly, Kay Wusu who happens to be the original composer emphatically stated that he has no plans of going to court should Wendy Shay’s management refuse to compensate him.
