Rosalie Anderson MacDowell is a former fashion model and actress from the United States. Prior to winning praise for her performance in Sex, Lies, and Videotape, she made her cinematic debut in the 1984 films Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, and 1985’s Brat Pack feature film St. Elmo’s Fire.

Her mother was an alcoholic, and when she was six years old, her parents got divorced.

After a year of sobriety, MacDowell’s mother passed away at the age of 53 from a heart attack.
