Another Suicide Hits The Ghana Police Service

Following the suicide of one policeman in the Jomoro Municipality of Western Region, a similar unfortunate event has taken place at the Police Headquarters in Accra after less than 72 hours.

According to MyNewsGh, the deceased is one Constable Yelnona Eugene who was stationed at the National Protection Unit (NPU). He had been on sick leave and was receiving treatment for his illness.

After returning to work on 29 January, 2021, requested for an extension of his leave as he was still unwell. He was denied the extension and posted to the the residence of a certain Mr. Olympio, a Togo opposition exile in Ghana who resides at Ridge to be be on guard duty.

Unfortunately, Constable Yelnona Eugene is alleged to have shot himself this dawn in a washroom at his post when nobody was around.
