Any disorder in Nigeria will indirectly affect Ghana – Former Prez. Mahama speaks on #EndSARS

Former President John Dramani Mahama has spoken at last on the widespread civil unrest in Nigeria which has become an issue of international concern.

Speaking on the impasse and calling for cool heads to prevail, Mahama said Ghana must be mindful of the fact that any disorder in Nigeria will indirectly affect Ghana.

According to him, Ghana is the only English-speaking country in close proximity to Nigeria thus the #EndSARS protest which has been overturned into the shooting and killing of unarmed civilians must be of utmost concern to Ghana.

“What happened in Nigeria is regrettable. I don’t believe that the security services should be so high handed against unarmed demonstrators. Nigeria is of strategic security importance to Ghana because we are the nearest English speaking neighbour.” Mahama said in an exclusive interview with TV3 network.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has addressed Nigeria a while ago and expressed a desire to see to the peaceful end of what he describes as ‘an unfortunate development.’

He, however, charged the international community to get their facts right, respect their sovereignty and must not be hasty and judgemental in their bid to solidarize with Nigeria in this difficult time.
