Appietus Says Ghana Music Royalties System Has Been Complete ‘Sham’ Since Independence, Never Rely On GHAMRO Else You’ll Suffer

Ghanaian music producer, Appietus has waded into the ‘failed state’ of the collection of music royalties in the country.

He expressed that the music royalties collection system has been in shambles since the days of independence

The popular music producer has dished out advice to musicians not to depend on the sick royalty system else they’re going to face pure suffering.

Speaking in an interview in Kastle FM, he explained that the old musicians have complained about it since the old days before the independence but nothing has been done about it.

He said, “In this country, the royalty system isn’t that good so if that’s what you
depend on then it will worry you as a musician or sound engineer. Because if you look at musicians in the system even before us, they’ve complained about the same thing since we had independence.”

He added, “The story hasn’t changed so there’s no way anyone should put their focus on royalties maybe in the future it’ll be better but for now it’s in shambles.”
