Highly opinionated showbiz enthusiast, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has stated categorically that songs and nominees cited for VGMAs 2020 Reggae Dancehall Artiste of The Year are wack or better still weak.
To his best knowledge and experience in the game, the nominees in the category under scrutiny are not competitive enough. He argued that per the definition of that category, most of the artiste and songs that secured a nomination do not fit in.
“It is too light is an understatement, that category is overly weak. Award schemes are supposed to be competitive but this is weak. Although Samini is in there he is just one of a kind there.
“In matters relating to award schemes, it is always important to look at the category definition and when you look at the definition for Reggae Dancehall artiste and song category you realize that most of the songs don’t fit the criteria.
“How many of the songs listed there really came close to being the most popular for the year and how many generated the most excitement in the year under review.
“Look at the list there how many were close. Clearly, I mean spot on it is easy to say those two are weak categories,” he added.
As a reminder, J Derobie, AK Songtress, Epixode, Ras Kuuku, Jupitar, and Samini are the very artistes cited for this year’s VGMAs Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of The Year.
