Artur Beterbiev is a Russian professional boxer. He is a unified light heavyweight champion, having held the IBF title since 2017, the WBC title since 2019 and the WBO title since June 2022.

Beterbiev is of Chechen ancestry and was born in Khasavyurt, Dagestan. He became a citizen of Canada and now resides in Montreal, Quebec, his adoptive city. Muslim is Beterbiev. He has four kids and is married.

Artur Beterbiev professional career

Beterbiev relocated to Montreal in order to further his career. On July 8, 2013, at the Bell Centre, he defeated Christian Cruz by way of a second-round TKO. On the undercard of Jean Pascal vs. Lucian Bute, Beterbiev defeated Gabriel Lecrosnier via fourth-round TKO.

On September 27, 2014, Beterbiev would challenge former IBF light-heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud for the vacant NABA title after winning his first five professional contests.

After a hesitant start from both combatants, Beterbiev opened up and started firing strong shots that clearly jarred Cloud. The Russian used combinations to three times knock out his opponent in the last minute.

Cloud had never been dropped in his professional career prior to this battle. With many powerful headshots in round two that forced Cloud to retire, Beterbiev finished the show and won his first championship.

On October 29, 2022, at the O2 Arena in London, England, Beterbiev was scheduled to defend his obligatory title against Anthony Yarde, the top-ranked WBO light heavyweight challenger. On August 19, Beterbiev withdrew from the fight because of an unspecified injury. The fight was moved to the OVO Arena Wembley on January 28, 2023.
