Ghbase.com has reported that Akuapem Poloo has been sentenced to 90 days in prison after she changed her plea to guilty and was convicted for that on Wednesday and remanded in police custody till her sentencing today.

There have been several reactions on Social media after the news of her sentencing and Ghanaian blogger and owner of Ghbase.com, Chris Handler has shared his sentiments on her judgment.

Posting on his Facebook, Chris Handler opined that, it could be likely that the video presented in evidence by the prosecution could be something damaging, the reason why Poloo had to change her plea from not guilty to guilty.

Already, the lawyer for Poloo had mentioned in an interview that, he advised her to changed when they saw the video evidence and that refusing to change the plea at that instant could have resulted in his client getting a tougher punishment from the judge.

Chris has suggested that all those who wanted her to be freed and worried about how his son would fare without his mom to make some donations to the boy’s grandmother who’s still alive, so she can take care of him, while his mother does jail time for her action.

He posted on his Facebook wall:

Akuapem Poloo goes to jail for 90 days.
We’ve come to learn that, some video evidence was presented by the prosecutors that was too ‘strong’ reason why she changed her plea from not guilty to guilty.
Her lawyer did not state what was in the video—Whether she was beating the child during the photo shoot because he didn’t want to do it or she was bragging or whatever but the charges leveled against her suggests whatever was in that video was bad.
I was expecting a fine or maybe some two weeks jail time but we don’t know what was in that video and perhaps the social media campaign for her to be freed either pissed off the judge or touched her heart to reduce the sentence.
Thankfully, her mom is alive to cater for the boy for the 3 months- friends and family who are overly worried can provide financial assistance.
Now let’s use Social media to push our leaders to fix our streetlights, our health institutions and the thousands of problems we face in this country.
