Notably, he was the first Republican in the Georgia House to work with Democrats to remove the Confederate battle emblem from the state flag in 2001.

Scott consistently advocated for military aid to Ukraine while demonstrating his position on global affairs, particularly in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. He received a “A” rating on the congressional report card on Ukraine support by Defending Democracy Together as of October 2023.

Austin Scott’s voting record on women’s issues includes support for the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2012 and the Deborah Sampson Act of 2019, both of which aim to improve healthcare access for female veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Scott was one of the Republican representatives who signed an amicus brief in support of Texas v. Pennsylvania, a lawsuit challenging the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. Furthermore, during the certification of the 2021 Electoral College vote, he did not object to the results and condemned the violence at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Scott will be in attendance at President Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20, 2021. His involvement extends to Confederate naming issues, as he was appointed to the Congressionally-mandated Commission on the Naming of Department of Defence Items Commemorating the Confederate States of America or Any Person Who Served Voluntarily with the Confederate States of America.

In terms of immigration, Scott sponsored H.R. 6202, the American Tech Workforce Act of 2021, which aims to set a wage floor for the high-skill H-1B visa program, reducing employer reliance on the program.

The bill also seeks to repeal the Optional Practical Training program, which allows foreign graduates to remain in the United States of America and work.
