The restriction on operating tricycles in Bawku has been removed after being imposed by the Upper East Regional Security Council.
The decision, as stated by the security council, was made owing to the many requests made by employees of the public sector and the relative tranquillity that has prevailed since the arrival of delegations from the government a few months ago.
It is possible to recollect that before the delegation’s arrival, a decree was issued prohibiting the people in the neighbourhood from riding tricycles and wearing smocks. This was done in preparation for the presence of the group.
After a period of relative quiet lasting three weeks, the minister in charge of the area has altered the order to include pleas to the two warring groups, urging them to keep the peace.
