Billy Thomson bio
William Marshall Thomson was a goalkeeper in Scottish football. Thomson was a member of Partick Thistle, St. Mirren, Dundee United, Clydebank, Motherwell, Rangers, and Dundee at the club level. In two Scottish Cup finals and the 1987 UEFA Cup Final, he represented Dundee United.
Thomson joined Dundee’s coaching staff after his retirement, then in May 2001, he returned to Rangers as goalkeeping coach. He remained there until his resignation in August 2007. Two months later, Thomson started working part-time in a comparable position with Kilmarnock.
Soon after leaving Kilmarnock in June 2021, Thomson took the position of goalkeeping coach at Stranraer.
