Birdman has used many different nicknames throughout his career, but he decided to change his government name in 2023.

The Cash Money Records co-founder announced on social media earlier this week that he will take over from Bryan Williams from Bryan Brooks, which will legally be completed in the first quarter of next year.

“In February 2023, I won’t be Williams no more. I’ll be Bryan Christopher Brooks,” he explained. “He a Patterson, I’m a Williams. 2023 I’m changing my name.

“I was born Bryan Brooks. My momma died and my daddy came and got me out the foster home and I became a Williams and I love him with every piece of my soul, but 2023 I want to die Bryan Brooks.”

Rappers have changed their names frequently recently, and Birdman is not the only one. After Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams granted his request in October 2021, Kanye West modified his name to Ye last year. Kanye stated “personal reasons” for the change in the legal filing.

“I believe Ye is the most commonly used word in the Bible,” he said. “And in the Bible, it means, ‘You.’ I’m all of you.”
