Immediate former coach of the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah has dramatically said the current crop of players in the Black Stars lack the quality to win the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He told Atinka FM on their flagship sports program that unless Ghana formulates a long term plan to groom players who are capable of annexing the trophy, Ghana should continue waiting for their next triumph since they last won it in 1982.

He said:“We can’t just say we are going to win AFCON, we need to have a long term plan for our national teams and groom quality players before we can win the AFCON”, he said.

“For now we lack quality players to win the AFCON,” he added.
