The Black Stars have touched down in Qatar ahead of the 2022 World Cup which begins in two days’ time.
The Ghanaian contingent, together with all the players wore beautiful smocks that portrayed the rich Ghanaian culture in its full glory.
The team has managed to revive hope amongst fans after they convincingly dispatched Switzerland with a 2-0 victory in a friendly match that was played on November 17, 2022.
The ‘bring back the love’ mantra has been sustained and fans are expecting the Stars to go all out evidenced in their remarkable display against the Swiss in their final preparatory match against the formidable Europeans.
Meanwhile, having led the Black Stars to a 2-0 victory against Switzerland in the final pre-World Cup friendly on Thursday, Ghana’s skipper Dede Ayew is now the Ghanaian player with the most appearances in the country’s history.
The 32-year-old made a strong impression as the four-time African champions defeated the European team to end strings of underwhelming performances and possibly win back the love of the fans back home in Ghana.
With 110 appearances, Ayew has surpassed legendary former striker Asamoah Gyan as the most-played Ghanaian player (109).
Ayew made his 100th appearance for Ghana in November 2021, scoring the only goal against South Africa in a crucial World Cup qualifying match in Cape Coast. Read more here.
