Gospel otherwise known as “Good News” according to the Christian narrative is all sacred and that’s the main reason why practitioners are expected to live life of piety. Similarly to gospel musicians, they’re expected to live life worthy of emulation in all respect.
Nonetheless, the public life of the current crop of Gospel musicians in Ghana are someway as it’s difficult to point out what differs them from those who represent the secular genres. A critical example is the public life of Gospel musician Bro Sammy who prides himself as “The Nation’s Worshipper”!
Off late, the action and inaction Bro Sammy beats the imagination of critical thinking Ghanaians especially Gospels music enthusiasts. He’s always in the news for the bad reasons. Starting from faking accident to beefing colleagues in the industry and now, he produces a special healing water for the cure of HIV, Hepatitis B, Cancer, Gonorrhoea, etc.
So, people are confused and can’t understand what he seeks to achieve or better still the legacy he wants to leave behind for the next generation of Gospel musicians. But in the rightful thinking of Bro Sammy, being a Gospel musician doesn’t mean one should be timid and appear melancholic all the time.
Speaking exclusively to Fante Quoo of Inside Prime Page television, Bro Sammy posited that he refuses to appear melancholic as portrayed as the typical lifestyle of ancient Gospel musicians and that’s the main reason why he has been linked to Shatta Wale – “Gospel music mu Shatta Wale”. Y’all know the cantankerous and controversial lifestyle of Shatta Wale in the media space.
