Born in Hammersmith, London on August 12, 1992, Cara Jocelyn Delevingne is a well-known English model and actress. Her modeling career began after she signed with Storm Management in 2009 following her departure from school. Delevingne’s remarkable talents were soon recognized, and she won consecutive Model of the Year awards at the British Fashion Awards in 2012 and 2014.
She also made a name for herself in the acting world, starting with a minor role in the 2012 film adaptation of Anna Karenina and going on to star in a number of notable roles, such as Margo Roth Spiegelman in Paper Towns, the Enchantress in Suicide Squad, and Laureline in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets by Luc Besson.
Delevingne’s family background is noteworthy as well, with her father being a property developer and her maternal grandfather being a publishing executive and English Heritage chairman. She also has an interesting lineage and is descended from the Anglo-Jewish Faudel-Phillips baronets through her maternal great-great-grandfather, two of whom served as Lord Mayor of London.
Delevingne attended Francis Holland School for Girls in central London until the age of 16 before moving to Bedales School in Steep, Hampshire. She has dyspraxia and found school challenging. In an interview with Vogue, she spoke about her battle with depression at the age of 15, where she experienced feelings so intense that she would slam her head against a tree to try to knock herself out.
At the age of 16, after completing her GCSEs, she moved to Bedales School to focus on drama and music. She subsequently dropped out after one year and pursued modeling, following in the footsteps of her sister Poppy. As of now, Delevingne does not have any children, and she has expressed her focus on her career and advocacy work for various causes.
