Chairman Wontumi’s lawyer, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has waded into the Otumfour- Chairman Wontumi’s ongoing brouhaha.
This comes after the Asantehene allegedly ordered the Samanhene Nana Osei Kwaku to summon 8 people over Chairman Wontumi’s public denigration.
Per the information available at our news desk, Chairman Wontumi had a misunderstanding with the constituency organizer of the Manhyia South during the Ashanti Regional parliamentary vetting held by the NPP.
Following the brouhaha, Chairman Wontumi belittled Otumfour Osei Tutu saying that “I have built my kingdom, I have my police and military, and I will speak my mind to Otumfuo if I disagree on an issue with him (Otumfuo)”.
Per reports, the loudmouth politician was to appear before the Asantehene on 22nd January 2024.
Reacting to this, the notorious Ghanaian private legal practitioner has said that Chairman Wontumi has more power than the Asantehene.
Maurice Ampaw in a viral self-recorded video claims that Chairman Wontumi has a kingdom and a political power that the Asantehene does not have.
In his conclusion, Lawyer Ampaw suggested that Chairman Wontumi is big enough to be studied as a subject in educational institutions.
Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi has denied publicly denigrating Otumfour Osei Tutu.
“I would like to place on the record that the story is false, malicious and calculated attempt by some elements to pitch the ruling party and my good self against the Asantehene, for reasons best known to them”, Chairman Wontumi said.
Speaking On Abusua FM with Osempakani, Nana Kwaku Duah has insisted that Chairman Wontumi publicly denigrated Otumfour Osei Tutu.
According to him, had it not been for the public denigration by Chairman Wontumi, he would never have confronted him during the NPP’s Ashanti Regional parliamentary vetting which took place at the Manhyia south.
“Wontumi is lying, he said he has built his kingdom in Ashanti and that’s what forced me to confront him at the vetting room. Why would I lie against him if he didn’t say what I’m saying? He even said worse things about Otumfuo which I can’t repeat on the radio,’’ he said.
