Change the name from Black Stars to ‘Black Soil’ – Shatta Wale slams Black Stars players

Ghanaians are frustrated and have taken to social media to vent their spleen on the Black Stars following their embarrassing defeat in their first game at the ongoing African Cup of Nations Tournament in Ivory Coast.

It is just the first round of group-stage games at the 2023 African Cup of Nations but the Black Stars of Ghana have already given supporters severe headaches after they were defeated by Cape Verde in a fierce contest yesterday.

As expected, their performance led to massive reactions from Ghanaians all over the world, who were hoping for a win to kickstart the tournament on the right note.

Shatta Wale was one of the many out there who remained disappointed in the performance of the Black Stars and he made that known in a social media post.

According to the multiple award-winning musicians, it is time the Black Stars had a change of name. Due to their poor form and consistent way of losing games, everyone expected them to walk over their opponents.

In a video he published via his social media handles, Shatta Wale advised that Black Stars be changed to “Black Soil” because at least Ghanaians will be able to grow something beneficial.

The senior male national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, have been defeated by Cape Verde in their first match at the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.

The warning signs were clear for the Black Stars when Monteiro hit a rebound from an initial Ofori save to give Cape Verde the lead just 17 minutes into the first half of the game.

Ghana thought they had equalized when Majerd Ashimeru’s long-range effort hit the back of the net, only to be disallowed after a VAR review due to a Ghanaian player blocking the sight of the goalkeeper.

Ghana finally found the equalizer when Djiku headed in a well-taken Jordan Ayew corner kick in the 56th minute to give Ghanaians hope of finding the winner to grant their first win of the tournament.

However, things took a different turn when a miscommunication in the Ghanaian defence gave Rodriguez the chance to slot the winner for Cape Verde into an empty net.
