Australian neurosurgeon Charlie Teo, born on December 24, 1957, founded the Center for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
The University of New South Wales awarded him a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1981. He then went on to Dallas to complete a fellowship in general neurosurgery, becoming the first and only Australian neurosurgeon to be accredited by a US medical board.
Before going back to Australia, he lived in the US for almost ten years. The Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and the Charlie Teo Foundation were both founded by Charlie Teo.
He is well-known internationally in the field of minimally invasive neurosurgery and has served on the Voiceless council in Australia since 2009. He criticized the disciplinary actions taken against him in February 2023, asserting that they were brought on by resentful business rivals who were jealous of his superior abilities.

Prior to their separation in 2018, Charlie Teo and Genevieve Teo were wed for 30 years. Charlie Teo is not currently married. When Genevieve was a nurse at the same hospital and Charlie was a 25-year-old doctor, they first met. Charlie is currently engaged to Traci Griffiths, a former model who was treated by him as a surgeon after receiving a brain tumor diagnosis in 2011.
