Gerald Asamoah, a former Germany international, has said that he does not have any regrets over his decision to play for Germany rather than Ghana.

Before declaring his loyalty to Germany, the head coach of Schalke 04’s first team said in an interview that, before making his decision, he paid careful thought to a number of different considerations.

According to him, making the decision to play for the European giants was the turning point that catapulted him to the pinnacle of his career, and he does not have any regrets about making that choice.

“I have no remorse. At that moment, it was the wisest choice that I could have made. If Otto Addo had been the coach at the time, it’s possible that I would have made a different choice, but at the time, it was one of the finest choices I could have made “he said to Peace FM in Accra, Ghana.

“It has been of great assistance to me, and I adore Ghana. I am keeping up with Ghana and watching Ghana. I was born in Ghana, but I now call Germany my home. Playing for Germany was one of the smartest choices I’ve ever made.

The former Schalke player participated in the World Cup in both 2002 and 2006, although he is most known for his 43 appearances and six goals scored for Germany.

Throughout his playing career, Asamoah was a forward, and he was most well-known for his speed, his physical strength, and his attitude of always being willing to put in the extra effort.

He has spent most of his career at Schalke, where he is well regarded not just for his achievements as a player but also for his laid-back and upbeat demeanour as well as his position as a community leader when he is not on the field. He has won several awards throughout his time with Schalke.

Asamoah was born in Mampong, Ghana, before moving to Germany with his family in the year 1990.

Soon after, he joined a number of other local football clubs and, when he was 16 years old, he became a member of the youth football program of Hannover 96.
