Highly opinionated Alhaji Grusah has stated categorically that Black Stars new head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, doesn’t have what it takes to coach the senior national team. Thus, his appointment is like asking a class two teacher to go and lecture at the University, according to outspoken King Faisal FC president Alhaji Grusah.
Following the complete dissolution of all the technical bench of the national teams by the Ghana FA with immediate-past coach James Kwasi Appiah being the biggest casualty at the helm, the former Black Stars captain has now taken up the hotseat of the high-profile post with the African powerhouse.
However, CK Akonnor’s appointment has not gone down well with the veteran football administrator and has predicted doom for the young tactician as he never fancied an indigene for the top job of the four-time African champions.
“I have never been in support of the appointments done by the Ghana FA and the ministry. The appointment of CK Akonnor is like instructing a class two teacher to lecture at the university. Would that be possible? It is you the media that shield the truth with regards to the appointment of national team coaches,” Alhaji Grusah told the assembled pressmen at the Baba Yara Stadium after his side’s 2-2 stalemate against Bechem United.
He continued, “CK Akonnor has coached Kotoko, Secondi Eleven Wise, AshgAsh and Hearts of Oak and you have to assess him both theoretical and practical on his C.V, but you seem to be taking things for granted. Even with the immediate-past coach James Kwasi Appiah, these current crops of players do ridicule him.”
