Legon authorities hunt for C’wealth, Mensah Sarbah students involved in violent clashes

Management of the University of Ghana has launched a probe into the recent bloody clash between residents of Commonwealth Hall and Mensah Sarbah Hall which led to injuries and destruction of properties.

The fight reportedly occurred while students of Mensah Sarbah Hall, popularly known as Vikings, with their annex B, Okponglo, were celebrating a festival.

A statement from the hierarchy of the school seeking to hunt the perpetrators of the fight has been issued to the press and it is as follows;

“Management condemns these needless acts of violence that have led to injuries and destruction of property, and calls on students of the two Halls to immediately halt any planned continuation of these acts,” an official notice issued by the Registrar, Emelia Agyei-Mensah, on Saturday, August 6 said.

“Efforts to identify the perpetrators are ongoing, and those found culpable of breaking national laws or University regulations will be appropriately sanctioned.”

Management has assured the University community of its resolve to ensure that academic work and even other activities are not hindered.

It also assured of its commitment “to safeguard peace and stability on all campuses of the University”.
