The protracted legal case against Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale following their infamous brawl at the 2019 VGMA has been adjourned once again to November 26.
This became necessary because the State Prosecutor has been promoted and currently undergoing a refresher course because of the new position he won’t be available till November, 26.
The pair were in court yesterday with their respective lawyers. The duo were granted bail after they were charged with beaches of peace, contrary to Section 2017 (1) of the Criminal and other Offences Act 1960 (ACT 29).
Stonebwoy also received an additional charge of display of weapon in public space without permission contrary to Section 7 (1) and 26 (1) (a) of Arms and Ammunition Act-1972 (NRCD.9)
According to a statement signed by Effia Tenge, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Head of Public Affairs, the two Dancehall artistes pleaded not guilty to the charges and have been admitted to bail in sum of ¢50,000 with one surety each.
The statement also said that, the court has advised the two accused persons to be of good behaviour during the pendency of the case before the court.
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy made an ‘unwanted history’ when they took their age long feud to a different at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in May on live TV.
While Stonebwoy was up the VGMA stage taking his award for Best Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year, Shatta Wale was seen moving towards the stage with a host of others presumed to be his fans.
The security on stage provided cover for Stonebwoy and the few others already up the stage but Stonebwoy’s manager allegedly engaged in fisticuffs with a member of the team moving with Shatta Wale.
The incident degenerated into pandemonium with one Nii Amoo spraying pepper spray according to police report.
Stonebwoy also pulled out a gun in the process, sending panic and fear in the auditorium as patrons fled for their dear lives.
