Courteney Cox bio
Courteney Cox is an American actress, producer, and director. She was born on June 15, 1964, in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Cox’s parents, Richard and Courteney Copeland, were businesspeople who owned a company that sold pool tables and other gaming equipment.
Cox grew up in Mountain Brook, a suburb of Birmingham, and attended Mountain Brook High School, where she was a cheerleader and played tennis. After high school, she went to Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C., but dropped out after a year to pursue a career in modeling and acting.
Cox began her career as a model and appeared in several commercials and music videos. Her breakthrough came when she was cast as Michael J. Fox’s girlfriend, Alex P. Keaton, on the hit TV series “Family Ties” in 1987. She then went on to play recurring roles on other TV shows such as “As the World Turns,” “Morton & Hayes,” and “Seinfeld.”
In 1994, Cox was cast as Monica Geller on the popular TV series “Friends,” which ran for 10 seasons and earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award and a People’s Choice Award. During this time, she also appeared in several movies, including “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “Scream,” and “The Runner.”
After “Friends” ended in 2004, Cox continued to act in movies and TV shows, and also began producing and directing. She produced and starred in the TV series “Dirt” and “Cougar Town,” and directed episodes of “Cougar Town” and “Nine Months with Courteney Cox.”

In her personal life, Cox has been married twice. Her first marriage was to actor David Arquette from 1999 to 2013, and they have a daughter named Coco. She married musician Johnny McDaid in 2014.
Cox is also involved in several philanthropic causes, including animal rights and neurology research. She has served as a spokesperson for the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation and supports organizations such as Friends of El Faro and OmniPeace.
