COVID-19: Total of 7 pregnant women test positive for Coronavirus in Ghana

Reports have emerged that Information a total of seven pregnant women in Ghana have tested positive for the novel coronavirus also known as the COVID-19 which originated from Wuhan, China back in 2019.

This was revealed by the Chairman for Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) on Health, Dr Gabriel Benaku who raised concerns how the disease could have an adverse effect on the newborn babies as well.

Dr Benaku while speaking in an interview on TV3’s Midday Live Tuesday, April 28, 2020, said; “We already have spotted 7 pregnant women who are infected with COVID-19,” he said.

Dr Benaku, however, called on all and sundry, to rally behind government to help in finding a cure or vaccine to this disease which is taking its death tool on innocent Ghanaians.

He called on the government to walk the talk and not just show interest in developing a vaccine for the disease by supporting Ghanaians who have been trying hard to find a cure.

“Government should invest into vaccine production locally so we can use our integrated approach,” he said, in solving cases of COVID-19, added.
