Current rappers have failed to continue our legacy – Guru laments

Getting to the latter part of 2009, rappers like Sarkodie, Guru, Dr Cryme, Opanka, Yaa Pono et Al, was delightful to listen and watch whenever one wants emotional peace using rap as an antidote.

But with time, a new crop of rappers have come spearheaded by the likes of Kwesi Arthur, Medikal, Teephlow, Strongman, others. Although they’re trying their possible best to put Ghana on the map but rapper Guru thinks otherwise

According to Guru who happens to be CEO of NKZ Music, the current crop of rappers have failed to live up to expectation in reference to the continuity of the rap legacy they left behind.

Speaking on “Showbiz Agenda” on Zylofon 102.1FM, the “Lapaz Toyota” hitmaker stated that, there is no top rapper in the rap game because none of them have done anything extra ordinary from what they did.

To his best knowledge, the current rappers have only spiced up what they used to do but they have not changed the style and manner of the rap music. “Nothing has been changed in the rap game.

Rappers are just making it look like they have changed it but is the same rhymes and rythms we used to do and the repetition of lyrics and scenarios. What has changed is only the beat which makes no difference to me” he narrated.
