Dan Quinn, whose full name is Daniel Patrick Quinn, is an American football coach who is the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL).
Dan Quinn early life and playing career
Born in New Jersey’s Morristown attended Morristown High School in Morristown, where he played high school football, and graduated in 1989. Quinn was raised in the nearby Morris Township.
He was a defensive lineman for the football team at Salisbury State University (now Salisbury University), an NCAA Division III school, from 1990 to 1993.
He was a four-year starter in both football and track and field, and in 1994, while also competing for Salisbury State in the NCAA track championships, he broke the record for the hammer throw (168.8 feet) and was awarded All-Mason-Dixon. Dan led the track and field team in 1994 and served as the football team’s captain twice.
Dan Quinn coaching career
Quinn started out as a defensive line coach for the Virginia Military Institute football team in 1995 and the William & Mary Tribe football team in 1994. Quinn was Hofstra’s defensive coordinator from 2000 to 2001 and their defensive line coach from 1996 to 1999.
Quinn was hired by the Dallas Cowboys on January 11, 2021, to replace Mike Nolan, who was fired after the 2020 season, as their defensive coordinator under head coach Mike McCarthy. Quinn took over as the Cowboys’ interim head coach on December 2, 2021, replacing Mike McCarthy, who was suspended due to a positive COVID-19 test. New Orleans Saints were defeated by the Cowboys 27–17.
The Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Giants all interviewed Quinn for their open head coaching positions in 2022, according to reports in the media.
He ultimately decided to go back to the Cowboys in order to maintain the continuity of the coaching staff. Quinn and the Cowboys agreed to a multi-year contract agreement on January 28, 2022. He received the 2021 AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year award in February 2022.

Dan Quinn’s wife is called Stacy. Quinn’s Corps is an organization founded by Stacey and Dan Quinn in 2004. The foundation’s mission is to support military personnel and their families.
On game days, Quinn’s Corps provides military families with complimentary admission, lunch, and parking. Additionally, Quinn’s Corps contributes to a charity called Fisher House.
Veteran families can remain for free in a group of homes run by Fisher House in the Seattle region while a family member is receiving treatment.
