Davido Narrates How His ‘FEM’ Single Almost Landed Him In Trouble

Popular Afrobeat singer, Davido has waded into how his single, ‘FEM’ on his ‘A Better Time’ album almost dragged him into the EndSars protest.

He made this known in an interview with a French Fashion magazine, L’officiel as he stated that the song gained massive attention after a random person played the track at a rally.

The singer emphasized that the government official was addressing the protestors and the person just played the song to interrupt the official.

Davido explained that what happened was crazy as he didn’t record that for the protest and EndSars wasn’t started yet as they released it two weeks before the protest hit the country.

In his words, “The record’s already gone, it was huge already. Then there was a little rally where this government official was speaking to the people and then somebody played the song.

He added, “They played the song, everybody’s singing. He’s trying to talk, but everybody is singing the song instead. Then somebody got the video and it just went crazy. From there, it became the anthem of the whole– I almost got in trouble. I was like, ‘Yo, I did record that song, but’ It was nice to see them use a song of mine to be instrumental in how they felt”
