Radio presenter and fashionista, Kofi Okyere Darko, popularly known as KOD, has waded into the argument as to whether 12-year-old DJ Switch really deserved to be awarded the overall best DJ at the just-ended Ghana DJ Awards.

Erica Armah Bra-Bulu Tandoh, widely known as DJ Switch on Saturday night at the Accra International Conference Center beat competition from renowned DJ’s like DJ Mic-Smith, DJ Vyrusky, DJ Sly, DJ Aroma and DJ Black to win the overall best DJ award.

Her win has since set tongues wagging on social media. Others are against her winning the award whiles others have praised her for her hard work which has manifested for all to see.

KOD reacting to DJ Switch wining the best Dj award in an interview on Neat FM stated that crowning young Disc Jockey (DJ), DJ Switch, ‘DJ of the Year’ at the just ended Ghana DJ Awards will mount pressure on her.

According to him, she should’ve been accorded an honorary award to depict her efforts but not “pushing her too much by giving her ‘DJ of the Year’.”

KOD explained that though DJ Switch works hard and has graced many international platforms, she should have been awarded with something similar to motivate her rather than the overall award which will definitely put pressure on her.

“She should have been awarded with something like the Black Star award or Future award or something that shows we should look out for her in the future,” KOD said.

He, however, said the 12-year-old DJ shouldn’t feel pampered but rather work hard to sustain her legacy and brand.
