Don’t Blame Me For Bad Roads – Chairman Wontumi

Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has told the people of the Ashanti Region to stop blaming him for the bad roads in the region.

He said the road projects had come to a halt due to the unavailability of funds from the Central Government to continue these projects contrary to earlier claims made.
Speaking on Akoma FM, a radio station based in Kumasi, revealed that the government had not yet paid them because there is no money and should the government pay them soon, work would continue as soon as possible.

“The work I funded, the government hasn’t paid us yet because there is no money. If the government pays me for the work I have done, then I will also pay my debtors and return to site,” he said

“I am not the one to release funds for the construction. The Finance Minister is responsible for releasing the funds so I will not take the blame. The government has just appointed his Ministers for vetting, let’s pray they do things in a hurry and the Finance Minister will give me money to complete the work for you”, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako explained.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) before the December polls strongly appealed to the people of the region to retain Nana Akufo-Addo to ensure all projects he began in his first term are properly completed for the people.
