Former Black Stars defender, John Paintsil has asked the players who would get the nod to represent the country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar not to focus too much on Cristiano Ronaldo when they face the A Seleção.

Ghana is drawn into a group with Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea where the Stars will hope to qualify for the Round of 16 ahead of the other teams.

The x-Ghana international in an interview with Daily Graphic advised the Black Stars not to focus too much on Cristiano Ronaldo when they face Portugal at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Though Ronaldo will be a threat to the team, according to Painstil, Ghana must not focus solely on Ronaldo but treat every Portuguese player as a threat.

“They don’t need to focus on Ronaldo; they need to focus on their game plan because as a player going into a game you don’t look at an individual.”

“Ronaldo is still good but he can’t run but when he receives the ball before you get to him, he can use it so it’s only close marking,”  he said, as quoted by the Graphic Sports.
