Drakes Mom – Sandi Graham

Born, Aubrey Drake Graham, Drake is a renowned Canadian Rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor born on October 24, 1986 at Toronto, Ontario in Canada to Dennis Graham and Sandi Graham.

Drake was raised up by his mother because he was just five years of age when his parents divorced. His father then moved back to America and settled in Nemphis where Drake usually visits him.

He spent his formative years near Weston Road in the city’s working-class neighborhood. Later, his family relocated to Forest Hill after Drake’s sixth grade. Later, Drake dropped out of school and completed his high school diploma in 2012.

However, The Star faced hardship at a very tender age. His suffering began when his father was arrested while trying to cross the border. Since the arrest of his father, the family was left for his sick mother to take care of. Drake then faced bullying in his predominantly white school as a result of racial racism.

Drake began acting after an acting agent who was one of his friends father, offered him a role in theCanadian drama series known as Degrassi in 2001. He then played the role of Jimmy Brooks, who was a wheel-chair bond ex basketball player, in 145 episodes.

He featured in many other television series such as Soul Food, Being Erica and Sophia. He also make appearance on Beyond the Break, Saturday Night Live and Punk’d. He also starred in the Continental Drift film where he did voice acting.

After his acting career, Drake decided to self-release his first debut mixtape titled Room for Improvement. After a year of the first debut mixtape, the second mixtape was released. It was titled Comeback Season which include Replacement Girl that earned him munch popularity. Drake founded October’s Very Own label to release the mixtape.

So Far Gone is his third mixtape released in 2009. It was made up with Best I Ever Had and Successful. Drake collaborated with some renowned musicians in his third mixtape. They are Lil Wayne, Trey Songz and Lloyd and many more. After gaining much commercial success, he released his debut EP by the same name which made it to number six on the Billboard 200.

He then released his debut studio album, Thank Me Later on June 15, 2010. Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West we’re all featured in the album. The Find Your Love single reached top 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album sold 1.83 million copies in the US alone and received Platinum Certificate in Canada and US.

Also, his second album Take Care debuted at No.1 on the US Billboard 200 sold over 631,000 copies in the first week. This album too was Platinum certified in UK, US and Canada.

Drake’s third studio album Nothing Was the Same received both critical acclaim and commercial success which was named, Best Success of the Year by series magazines. The album sold more than 1.78 million copies in the US alone and also received Platinum certificate in UK, US and Canada.

Drake won four Grammy Awards from thirty six nominations. His Take Care album was tagged Best Rap Album in 2013 and his song Hotline Bling won multiple awards in 2017. His total award is 80 from 330 nominations.

Relationship status

Drake has been in real with several women in the entertainment industry. But he is mostly known for his unstable relationship with the Barbadian singer Rihanna. They first met each other in 2005 and since began dating. Things seems to move smooth with them till Rihanna reunited with her ex boyfriend Chris Brown.

Drake then took a fight with Chris Brown over Rihanna in 2012. Chris Brown then blamed Drake on social media and went further by releasing a song that criticized Drake. However, the two performed together in a comedic skit at the 2014 ESPY Awards which leads to their reconciliation.

However, a lady named Ericka Lee revealed that she’s the ex girlfriend of Drake and claimed he used her voice in the Marlins Room song. Ericka then filled a lawsuit against Drake seeking credits and royalties. The claims were refuted by Drake’s lawyer and they reached an out-of-court settlement in 2013.

Drake moved on and began dating singer Jennifer Lopez in 2016. The duo usually posts pictures together on their social media channels. The relationship with Lopez was affected by Drake’s attempt to get back Rihanna.

Controversies

Drake was sued by his ex girlfriend for using her voice in the Marvins Room song. Later, he was then sued $300,000 again for using Jimmy Smith Rap song 1982 without proper licensing.

He was again sued for rapping 4-Tay for $100,000 for misusing his lyrics in Drake’s Who Do You Love song. Drake also had a feud with Meek Mill over lyrical originality, Nicki Minaj and their respective NBA teams

Later, he was involved in a brawl with Chris Brown when Drake and his friends threw bottles at Chris at a SOHO club in Manhattan.
