Amos Kumah, a driver’s mate aged 31 has been jailed by the Nakwie circuit court under the charges of theft and destruction of private property. The incident occurred at Abuakwa-Asenemaso in the Atwima-Nwabiagya South Municipality.
The accused who pleaded not guilty is set to appear once more before the court on February 3, 2021.
Mr. Sylvanus Dalmeida, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) narrated to the court, which was presided by Mr. Johnson Abbey how the theft took place. According to him, Amos Kumah intruded the drinking bar on January 16, 2021. He then made away with a sum of GHc2,400.00 which he had stolen from a jackpot machine.
Luckily, the owner of the spot had installed a security system which he could consult in order to verify that the accused was indeed the offender of justice. The owner claims to have connected the security system to his phone, upon which he saw Mr Kumah breaking into the machine with a hammer.
After being arrested by the Nakwie police, the supposed criminal confessed his crime in his caution statement and has appeared before the court of law.
