E-Levy Effect: MOMO agents to embark on nationwide strike on Thursday

The Ghana Mobile Money Agents Association has declared its intention to embark on a nationwide strike coming this Thursday, December 23, 2021, over E-Levy.

In a statement issued on Monday. December 20 2021, it described the contentious proposed 1.75 E-levy which many Ghanaians have complained about as harmful to businesses.

“We see this levy as very regressive and critical to the survival of our businesses. Consequently, as part of our demonstration on Thursday, December 23 2021, our services as mobile money agents will not be accessible across the country,” part of the statement signed by the association’s general secretary Evans Otumfuo reads.

In protest of their grievances, all Mobile Money agents across Ghana will close down their shops on Thursday, December 23, 2021, to register their displeasure about the controversial E-Levy.
