Ellyse Perry bio
Perry was raised in the Sydney neighbourhood of Wahroonga and went to Pymble Ladies’ College and Beecroft Primary School there. She led the cricket, athletics, and sports teams at Pymble.
She participated in a variety of sports during her school years, in addition to cricket and soccer, including tennis, athletics, touch football, and golf. At the age of nine, she made a friendship with future Australian teammate Alyssa Healy, with whom she played cricket throughout their childhood.
Despite Perry going by the moniker “Pez,” Healy occasionally referred to her as “Dags” because of a junior-level uniform that was too small for her.
Perry participated in a cricket match for New South Wales in an under-19 interstate competition shortly after turning 16 in January 2007. She totalled 74 runs and three wickets in three games.
She was chosen for the Australian youth squad to tour New Zealand and compete against the home country’s second XI a month later. She grabbed one wicket for 100.00 and scored 43 runs at 21.50.
