The National Cathedral of Ghana is a planned interdenominational Christian cathedral scheduled to be built in Accra, the nation’s capital, as part of Ghana’s 60th-anniversary celebrations. The design for the cathedral was unveiled by Akufo Addo in March 2018
Yesterday, March 5, 2020, the president of the Republic received a stone from the Isreal Ambassador to Ghana as a mark of Israel’s support to the building of the National Cathedral.
Interestingly, one of the most popular clergymen in the country has added his voice to the significance of the building as he has emphatically stated that, even if it demands pulling all houses down including to entire houses with high worth in Accra for the constructional of the National Cathedral it must be done.
Dr Lawrence Tetteh says even if the government has to demolish all buildings in Accra to build the National Cathedral it must be done.
“As for me building a National Cathedral is just as building, a house of God so it doesn’t matter whether you belong to the NPP, NDC or any other political party. Building a Cathedral is the most important, people have questioned why we are breaking buildings, even if we can break the whole of Accra and use it to build the house of God so be it,” he said.
