Exposé: “Thou shall not perform any song released under Xtra Large Music when bid farewell with the label” – a clause in Kaakie’s contract which has killed her music career after leaving XL Music

Before Ebony of blessed memories took over the center stage reducing the music career of the big guys including Sarkodie to nothingness, there was a certain Grace Awo Ocansey popularly known as Kaakie.

Kaakie rocked shoulders with the men boot for boot in reference to chart-topping and quality vibes or if you like music. She’s the reason why Shatta Wale brought The Dome auditorium into a standstill somewhere 2013.

Kaakie was simply the icing on cake in Ghana music industry between 2012-2017 kind courtesy the able hands of Jam Master Jay (JMJ), a renowned sound engineer and song writer who’s the brain behind Xtra Large Music (XLM).

But someway somehow, the unexpected aspect of musicians’ life took its course in the life of Kaakie after parting ways with JMJ’s Xtra Large records. Thus, the blistering and promising career of the Songstress under discussion has faded away completely from the industry.

As a result, discerning music enthusiasts in Ghana, lovers of good music cum fanatics of Kaakie have been asking, wondering and yearning to know what went wrong or if you like what caused the complete dim of Kaakie’s music shine.

When it happens like this, trust the intelligence unit of ghbase.com led by Adu Sarpeah to dig deep and come out clearly to satisfy the curiosity of the doubting Thomases in Ghana music industry. Per our enquiries, it was revealed that an entrenched clause in the contract signed between Kaakie and JMJ’s Xtra Large Music is the problem.

A close relative of Kaakie who wants to remain anonymous made ghbase.com privy to the clause in the contract which prevents Kaakie to perform any of the songs released under the label if there comes a time she parts ways with the record label.

Y’all know that Kaakie released all her top songs under Xtra Large Music, therefore, the contractual law forbids her to jump on any stage to perform the songs. The reliable source also disclosed to blogger Adu Sarpeah of GHBase.Com’s fame that Kaakie never wrote a single song under Xtra Large Music.

Therefore, all her chart-toping songs were either bought by Jam Master Jay or the record owner put the lyrics together all by himself. In short, all that Kaakie had to offer the label was to use her soothing voice to sing the curated verses in a recording studio.

So, there you have it. This has been the major reason why Kaakie has never bounced back in the music industry after parting ways with  JMJ’s Xtra Large record somewhere 2017.

As a reminder, Kaakie under Xtra Large music released an album somewhere 2016 dubbed “Kaakitup“. It contains twenty songs and features a number of well-established artistes such as Stonebwoy, Samini, Guru, Wutah Kobby, et Al.
