Ghanaians have reacted with mixed and personal feelings towards a job post by McDonald’s paying $18 per hour which is approximately GH¢24,385 when converted to the local cedi.

Many believe this amount is more than the yearly paycheck of workers in Ghana after all deductions have been made which clearly depict that Ghana is lagging behind in terms of economic growth which provides citizens with better alternatives.

Although this job posting is based in the United States of America where tax obligations need to be met, an argument many have made, it still makes little sense to people as to why a worker could be paid $18 per hour while in Ghana, one hardly gets paid for $18 per day.

Concerns have been raised about Ghana’s minimum wage which currently stands at GH¢11 per day which is less than $2. While, in the states, the minimum wage is being increased to support the aspirations of the citizens.

This post was shared by one Fredie Mawuli on Facebook which was screenshoted and shared on Twitter by Saddick Adams.

Below are some of the views and concerns of Ghanaians:

@Bill replied: Black man will always tell u its hard over there but yet still they ain’t willing to come and live in Ghana Such nonsense

@kobbyrolls said: Don’t even convert the 4,320$ into cedis just bring the same figures into cedis as 4,320cedis. How many degree holders saf Dey earn that amount every month serf… Smfh

@JaderOrsonw wrote: Let’s even say tax is 50% of earnings. The remaining balance is still over ghc10,000 which is mind blowing even for a masters holder in Ghana

@Terkpetey wrote: We will do all the analysis (taxes, rent, insurance, and so on) but the FACT OF THE MATTER IS THAT, YOUR UNCLE OVERSEAS will still take care of the family including some nonsense expenses you ask. And you and I will be here boasting about them in this country!!
